I'm surprised at some of the reviews. We don't go there every week, but have had good experiences with the freshness of the produce. The outstanding stalls: the bloke in the pavilion selling exquisite salamis etc; the couple opposite selling fresh pastas and sauces; the Byron Bay coffee. Certainly enough to justify going there and forming your own opinion.

Used to be good years ago now sells mostly over priced poor quality rubbish. It's not a farmers' market as most fruit and veg stalls sell stuff they bought at the wholesalers. Last weekend I bought firm peaches that went rotten next day. Had high hopes for good bread from a new stallholder but it was old and only good for toasting. There are a few specialty stalls that sell good quality food - yoghurt guy, nut people and the butcher. New cake stall left after 2 weeks - she was good. Other great cake person left last year. As for fruit and veg there are a few stalls that are good but the culture of inferior fresh produce has been set for too long and puts people off from coming at all.

Very disappointing, is this the best the Gold Cost has to offer? It is more like a Farmerless Farmers market, apart from a couple of good stalls everything else was thoroughly boring and the quality very poor, price for me is not the issue, I want quality product, I could see that perhaps price is for some of the people that come here to shop here the main driver as it reminds me of a cheap wholesale fruit & veggies place with produce that is neither particularly fresh or good quality, some cheap and nasty produce, some expensive and nasty produce. Only a couple of stalls selling anything Organic, one really great wholefoods stall which was really lost in this market. Sunday, stay in bed.
