For Restaurateurs

My business has been reviewed on Gold Coast Food Guide.

Congratulations, you’ve got people talking about your business! Positive reviews can make a huge impact on your business. If you would like to provide potential customers visiting your businesses page with more information such as providing menu’s, pictures, opening hours, a blurb about you etc please click here to contact us about our platinum package.

Gold Coast Food Guide is an independent food review website which allows users to post their own opinions.

How do I respond to reviews?

If you have registered as a platinum member simply log into the business owner section down the bottom of the page and you can post official management responses instantly! Business Owner Section launching June 14th. Please contact us with any responses untill this date.

If you are not a platinum member, please email us some proof that you are the management or an authorised representative from the business (eg. Email us a signed letter on your letterhead with this request and your contact name) and we will create a management response username for you. Please note that Gold Coast Food Guide may contact your business to verify that you are an authorised representative.

The same editorial guidelines apply to management responses and user reviews. Reviews and responses containing any of the following will not be posted:

Content that is: illegal, obscene, threatening, defamatory, invasive of privacy, infringing of intellectual property rights, or otherwise injurious to third parties or objectionable, contains software viruses, political campaigning, commercial solicitation, chain letters, mass mailings, or any form of "spam." If a false e-mail address is used, if the reviewer has impersonated any person or entity, or have been otherwise misleading.

We may also remove content containing:Text entirely in ALL CAPS, content not in English, content that violates the standards of good taste on this site as determined by Gold Coast Food Guide, hearsay, HTML or URL’s.

I got a great review – How do I say thank you?

A positive review can help your business significantly and people appreciate seeing management’s responses to both positive and negative reviews as this will help build up credibility and a relationship with your paying customers.

A simple short and sweet thank you will suffice. We suggest that you don’t ask them to tell their friends, offer to send out vouchers or offer invites to special events etc. The attraction of Gold Coast Food Guide is that it allows users to write reviews anonymously. If you ask for their contact details they may feel that their anonymity is threatened or that they are going to be added to a marketing list. Keep it professional and word will soon get out that you are a business worth visiting.

I got a bad review – What should I do?

We understand that there are two sides to every story but don’t write your response in haste. Take a deep breath or even sleep on it before posting a reply.

It’s hard to read negative feedback but even top restaurants sometimes slip up. Bear in mind that negative reviews can actually help your business as they provide balance and can make positive reviews seem more credible as everyone understands that you and your staff can’t be perfect all the time and besides, sometimes things are outside your control.

By posting a response to a negative review you will build respect and credibility amongst those viewing your restaurant page.

Keep your response professional and simple by thanking them for their patronage and feedback. If you have made steps to amend the situation state this in your response but make sure your response is not rude or condescending. Try to turn any negative feedback into something constructive as ways to improve your business.

I want to remove my business listing

We do not remove listings from this website unless they close down as we will have requests from users to add your business in the future. Your business name and address only will remain and your business will be flagged as not wanting to participate. When users click on the detail page it will say: “This business does not wish to participate on Gold Coast Food Guide and has asked to be made unavailable for reviews.”

You will need to email through proof such as a signed letter stating your request on your business letterhead that you are management or an authorised representative of this business before any changes are made as we do not want competitor businesses unlawfully removing other businesses.
