Had dinner here Saturday night and was disappointed. When meals are $30-$40 I expect a level of quality that Bellakai was nowhere near. Seafood chowder tasteless & desserts expensive at $16 each. We didn't even finish 2 desserts between 3 and thought combinations of flavours confused - don't bother with the Jaffa Mousse dessert; hard to find the jaffa flavour, mousse more like a ganache & citrus jelly out of place. Vanilla icecream saved it but too little too late. Spend your money elsewhere.

As a local I have eaten here several times for breakfast & lunch. The quality of breakfast meals is usually quite good, however lunch is very much a 'hit and miss' affair. I have experienced fabulous service and well presented, excellent quality meals on a Sat/Sun. Weekday dining reveals very much a different story. Most recently I was served a pasta drowned in greasy sauce which tasted no better than something out of jar on your supermarket shelf. Those accompanying me had similar experiences on this day. The level of service involved a staff member trying to serve our table with their small child in tow - the child was a constant presence each time table service was attempted - I say 'attempted' because the staff member constantly had to interrupt service to speak to the child who was a seemingly endless distraction. This was not a relaxing or enjoyable experience for us as diners - it just became more vexing as the meal progressed. Don't let me put you off trying Bellakai, you can have a good experience here - just don't expect it, or you may be disappointed.

We have had dinner here three times now and each time the food and service has been top quality. Highly reccommended are the calamari starter and the duck confit main course. The fact that the restaurant has been packed each time we have been despite relatively high prices (c. $22 for a starter and $32 for a main) says it all about the great food produced in the kitchen. If only there were more imaginative top end restaurants like this on the southern Gold Coast!

Good consistent coffee. This is definately a place for this. Service is however, inconsistent for food. It is sometimes excellent with friendly staff who are professional and other times they lack training and confidence with the menu. The menu is quite large and it can be confusing to choose what to eat for breakfast. There is an obsession on this menu with fat toast to fill you up. An illusion that does not fool everyone. The lunch menu food is reasonable but can be pricey for what it is. That said, go here for coffee as so many places have no idea how to make coffee. Nice outlook as well.
