Food is not certified halal in the Gold Coast which you would expect from a Middle East cafe. The place has a parking lot from 3 of 4 sides, which means very noisy and traffic and if you dine at night you will be constantly hit by high beams of parking cars. For was more Western in appeal, not so very Authentic as was expected.

Met some friends at Taboon for dinner last Tuesday night and were
pleasantly surprised by a new promotion they have called "Create your
own Banquet"! What this means is that for the set price of $30/Person
you can design your own Banquet Meal from the regular a la carte menu
without limit. We had such a great dinner which we shared family style:
Cheese & Tomato Flatbreads, Turkish Beetroot, Tunisian Carrot &
Persian Eggplant Dips, Felafels, Felafel Prawns (sooo yummy we had 2
plates) to start. We followed that with a couple of their thin based middle
eastern Pizzas & a couple of salads (one of them called a Belly Dancer
was so spicy & good!). Then for mains we enjoyed a selection of grilled
skewers & their Tagines...the Lamb Shank just fell off the bone with a
rich aromatic sauce and the chicken had preserved lemon, olives & chilli
and knocked our socks off! By now we were pretty full but just had to try
the desserts too. The Chocolate & Halva Fudge Cake was to die for, the
Malabi Trifle was so creamy but my favourite was the Baklava Stack
which was like a big Baklava & Ice Cream sandwich on a bed of slightly
salty sweet cream cheese...really creative & tasty. This promotion is only
available on Monday & Tuesday nights and the whole table has to have it
but it has to be the best value on the Coast! It's such a good way of
tasting Middle Eas

I tried this place for the first time last weekend with my partner. I agree with everyone, the food is wonderful! So very very tasty, and healthy too! Service was excellent and our food was on the table much quicker than other restaurants I've been to. I would suggest getting a table outside if you can, as it did get quite noisy sitting inside, and the kitchen staff gave us 'dinner and a show' at times!

Great little restraunt. We has a selection of entrees and shared two Mains. Pizza was freat and the Targine cooked chicken was fantastic. I was so full I couldn't finish the pizza, and thats a first! Great value as well.

Can't fault this 'gem' of a restaurant! The food is consistently good & the quality always excellent! The pizza's are ' to die for', & we have NEVER been pizza lovers! Service excellent, & great ambience. The new cakes are very innovative & 'scrumptious'. Will certainly keep going, as there is so much to choose from, you cannot be bored! Incidentally, the best & cheapest coffee on the coast, in this calibre of restaurant! Juliet
