Well... After seeing the comments I thought it about time to give an updated review for this place. This is going against my initial thoughts as I fear that it will get busy and they won't have a table for us next time. After frequenting a number of restaurants on the Gold Coast over the last 10 years I am happy to say I was and still am very impressed with the service and the food at BJ's. The specials are always fresh in ideas and change often. The staff are always friendly and always ready to help. But the food.... the food is outstanding. The kitchen certainly know how to prepare, present and cook. I have had a Lamb Rack equal to no where else where it melted in my mouth, fish which has tasted fantastic. Their current Pork Cutlet special is extremely tasty well cooked and extremely good value. Suffice to say it is very hard not to go back. We have never had a bad experience here. Which is highly unusual for the Gold Coast. I am usually scathing in reviews where I get bad service and food but I have to give credit where credit is due.

We have been going to this restaurant for years and the quality of the food has sadly been slowly declining. I ordered the special, a lamb loin dish, and I had to do something I have never done before, send it back! It was cold, gravy instead of red wine jus, lamb was tasteless, vegies boiled until mushy & tasteless (& paying $24 you want it to be worth it). Changed my choice to Chicken with pesto sauce & garlic mash, which was edible but still not very nice. Husband had Mixed Grill, steak raw, chops chewey, sauce had funny taste & cold. Entree's - I had Thai Fish Cakes that looked & tasted like frozen kind. Hubby had Minestrone soup, it tasted like tinned spagetti! Service great/friendly.
