Great food in a cool restaurant with friendly efficient staff. A must try if you like Japanese food.

I've been going for so many years that my family and I are original devotees of the original location at Miami. The decor has always been extremely understated, but the food more than makes up for it. The set menu has become more expensive over the years but is still good value if your choices from the list of entrees and mains is in the higher price bracket. I would highly recommend the sushi and sashimi, fried squid is devine, teriyaki salmon with tempura vegies, the salad is beautifully flavoursome, and you have to to end with chocolate mousse with custard and ice cream. For people not so fussed with raw fish and seafood, my husband swears by the chicken kaarage.

I really enjoyed Itshoshin! It has an urban/underground feel with a relaxed decor of graffiti, colourful cushions etc. The sushi was fresh and well presented! I really enjoyed the shaba shaba hot pot and would definitely recommend this dish to share with 3 or 4 people! Great friendly service...! They have it spot on!

I agree with the other reviews - we went here last night after a movie because I knew being Asian it would be open later (we got there at about 8:45pm) than other restaurants. The menu is a bit confusing as they really try to push the set menu options but we eventually worked out what a la carte meals we wanted to order. The menu is in a display folder - it could be better presented. The sushi was fantastic, the hotpot which we shared between 3 was huge and lots of fun (you cook it yourself - all the veggies and meat comes chopped and prepared) but I wasn't a fan of the teriyaki beef - i've had better. Overall though will definately be coming back regularly. Fantastic service & meal.

I dined here recently and can recommend it. Japanese food is especially healthful and tasty. I loved the presentation of the mixed entree, which came out served on a wooden ship! We ordered scallops, steak and salmon for the main course, and all were delicious! The tempura vegetables were also crispy and lightly battered. Overall, the food was fresh, light and delicious. We finished the meal with green tea icecream - a great way to refresh the palate.
