DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! I hosted two business clients and was
embarrassed. We were made to wait an 1 hour after our reservation
before being seated, the food was undercooked (Potatoes & steak). The
pumpkin ravioli was watery at best. I tried to talk to the manager
Danielle and she explained that Absynthe was a top 5 restaurant in QLD
and any difference was personal taste. She was extremely rude. It is
extreme arrogance! We didn't enjoy our meal and would ask people to
avoid this place

I would not be recommending this restaurant to any of my friends. We chose the degustation menu and I can honestly say it was average. I was disappointed with the Red Emperor which ended up being substituted for something that resembled flake and was tough to eat. The food did taste good but by the end of this menu we had to go out for a burger because we were not even close to being satisfied. One of our coffee's came out cold and and I got out of my seat to kill a cockroach which was walking away from the kitchen. It was highly overpriced for what we were served. I would strongly suggest against ordering the degastation menu. Our bill came to $790 for 2 couples and we all felt is was average but nothing fantastic.

Mmmmmmmmmmmm. Going to go back and have the degustation menu with wine. I can't wait.

Perfect. Ideal for foodies, or just to impress a date!

Absolutely fabulous in all respects. Do yourself a favour, have the degustation. We were greeted by the owner who has an extensive knowledge of regional wines. Listen to his suggestions because the food matches perfectly with the wine. Liquid nitrogen used in the cooking of desert and it is quite spectacular when you watch it cooked at your table. The truffle risotto is out of this world. I have eaten at some great restaurants in my time but this one would be in my top five. It is more expensive than you average restaurant but you get what you pay for, fabulous produce driven food. I will be going back again for the change in season menu.
