If not for that I would have made a complaint, but didn't want to spoil the evening (beyond what Marios' terrible foor had already done). It's as expensive as an authentic quality Italian restaurant in inner Sydney, but the food is more like what you'd get out of a frozen pack. In fact the food we had was partly frozen. The gnocchi was gluggy and inedible. My tortellini was still frozen in the middle. All four plates were left mostly full. I don't think for these prices it's justifiable to simple reheat frozen dishes in the microwave. But they didn't even get that right. Very disappointing. Posted 12 Sep 2010 by mv helensvale wow what a disappointment !( considering the quality food provided at Altos and also the lygon street restuarants owned by the same company) My wife and i always noticed how popular and busy Marios always is, so we thought we would give it a go, we tried the lasagna and it honestly was a poor effort by the chef, and i would be ashamed to have my name to such a meal, which really isnt that hard to put together. The beef lasagna had hardly any beef mince or bechamel sauce ,it was swimming in a pool of tomatoe sauce which was unseasoned and totally lacking flavour. service was also lousy considering we were there early on sunday night and the restuarant wasnt yet busy .Obviously Marios is yet another Gold Coast restuarant that relies on #1-the continuos flow of tourists to feed and #2- the locals who have never had any better and think all italian food is like this. We ordered Americana Pizza, Australian Pizza and the Risotto with chicken and mushrooms. All the food was great. The pizza base was just how I like it - not too thick. Yes, it is a little noisy but I feel adds to the night out. If you can get a seat outside, it's just great. The service is amazing and the food even better. The sizes are huge. my husband eats alot but orders an entree size and still is full after it( somtimes not fitting all that in) . It is on the higher end of the price list but believe me..it's worth it!!! recommend to EVERYONE!!!!
